Petroglyphs
A spring 2018 hike deep into the LA Cieneguilla pre-Columbian site in New Mexico led to the discovery of multiple petroglyphs fields. The ancient etchings in volcanic rock were compelling as symbolic messages to Native-American travelers along the Santa Fe Trail. Below are initial sketches and resulting wall-mounted steel sculptures. This body of work will be kept to rusted steel with clear polymer finish.
